Slumlord Management

One of the worst things about living in an AIMCO property is that maintenance is neglected to the point of being criminal.

Electrical outlets are broken, and the breakers constantly pop.
Windows are broken, and have never been fixed.
The heating went out last winter and it was over a month before it was repaired. (Still only a few vents work)
The washers and dryers are always broken, and just last week one of the dryers was filled with urine.
The door frames, balconies, wooden beams, are all rotten, anything metal is corroded and rusty, paint is peeling off everywhere.

Toxic substances: Black mold, asbestos, lead paint.

When a maintenance issue is reported to management it takes days, weeks, or never for AIMCO to do something.

When I moved into 360 Esplanade the kitchen smelled like urine. It was absolutely disgusting. My friends and family were horrified when they were helping me move in. It was a complete embarrassment, not to mention inconvenience. I moved in on a Wednesday, I was starting my new job the next Monday. I had to make numerous phone calls, and let all levels of management in to evaluate the situation. It was absolutely nauseating to be in the kitchen/dining area. I had all my dining room furniture, boxes of kitchen supplies stacked in the living room and it was really difficult to unpack and settle. All day Wednesday, Thursday and Friday passed until on Saturday I had to leave the unit and they had a crew come in to relay the linoleum, repaint the walls, and clean it up. I could finally start using my kitchen on Sunday, the day before starting my new job. It was terrible trying to move in and get settled. I really had to fight to get AIMCO to do something about the stench. It was disgusting.

There was also an issue with the window in my bedroom. The frame was so rusty that when I tried to open the window the frame broke away from the glass leaving the glass window edge exposed. I requested a replacement because it was terribly cold and windy late October and

AIMCO management really delayed on fixing a very obvious and disgusting problem with my apartment.
